NOR-11-1: 2 GW, 525 kV HVDC submarine project (plus underground along route) planned to connect offshore windfarm area N-11-1 to the German grid in Heide/West; Prysmian responsible for EPCI and will leverage its cable laying vessels.
Prysmian PowerLink s.r.l (Prysmian Group) was awarded contracts by German transmission system operator 50Hertz under its long-term HVDC cable EPCI tender (Lot 2) covering the NOR-11-1 submarine cable project and the DC31 land (underground) cable project. The scope covered design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the two turnkey HVDC cable systems, with NOR-11-1 described as a 2 GW, ±525 kV HVDC link planned to connect the offshore wind farm area N-11-1 to the German grid in the Heide/West area, and DC31 planned to transmit power onward from Heide/West to Klein Rogahn. Prysmian stated it would use its cable-laying vessel fleet for the marine installation operations, including laying and burial of offshore cables.
