By 2013, Jan De Nul had completed installation of the 220 kV Northwind export cable, using Nexans-supplied cable to create the first 220 kV offshore wind export in Belgium; the approximately 43 km subsea HVAC export cable from the Northwind offshore high-voltage substation towards Zeebrugge was routed broadly along the Belwind export corridor and was designed from the outset to allow future sharing of the connection with Nobelwind.
