Power export occurs via two parallel 33 kV submarine cables, each approximately 7.5 kilometers long, running from the wind farm array to a landfall point near Rhyl on the North Wales coast, where they connect into the onshore substation.
EDS HV Group was awarded a three‑year operations and maintenance management contract for the high‑voltage network at the 60 MW North Hoyle Offshore Wind Farm in Liverpool Bay, Wales. Starting from Q1 2019, the scope covered the onshore substation at Rhyl and the 33 kV export cable system linking the offshore array to shore. Acting on behalf of site manager innogy renewables and owners Greencoat Wind UK plc, EDS provided turnkey HV O&M services including 24/7 network surveillance from its control centre, HV safety management, marine coordination, planned maintenance, fault location, and emergency repair capability. The contract focused on maximising availability of the export connection and associated substation assets through a proactive, condition‑based maintenance regime and rapid response to any cable or substation faults.
