VBMS will perform the marine cable laying operations, including protection and landfall activities for the Normandie 1 HVAC cable from France (Surville) to Jersey (Archirondel).
VBMS was contracted as installation partner in a consortium with Prysmian Group for the Normandie 1 (N1) subsea interconnector between France and Jersey. Under a contract valued at almost €28 million for the consortium, VBMS was responsible for the marine installation of the new 90 kV, 100 MW HVAC cable supplied by Prysmian. Its scope covered offshore cable laying along the route from Surville to Archirondel, including seabed protection measures and landfall works at the shore approaches. This work formed part of the replacement of the obsolete EDF1 link and contributed to increasing the import capacity of the Channel Islands Electricity Grid.
