Installation of the export submarine cable linking the alpha ventus offshore transformer station to the German power grid via the island of Norderney was completed in 2008. The underwater 110 kV cable, installed by transpower gmbh (formerly E.ON Netz), now carries power from the offshore wind farm over a roughly 60–70 km route via Norderney to the Hager Marsch transformer station on the mainland.
