Description
JD-Contractor A/S was subcontracted by ABB to perform pre-lay grapnel run operations along the NordBalt HVDC cable route. In three campaigns during 2014–2015, including work in Lithuanian waters and towards the Swedish landfall, JD-Contractor cleared debris and obstacles from the planned cable corridor before installation of the first cable sections. This subsea route preparation reduced installation risks and formed part of the offshore construction phase for the 700 MW, roughly 450 km NordBalt interconnector linking the Lithuanian and Swedish transmission systems.
