By 30 October 2014, the NordBalt HVDC interconnection between Lithuania and Sweden was formally included as a project in the Baltic Energy Market Interconnection Plan (BEMIP), an EU regional plan intended to integrate the Baltic States’ power systems with the Nordic market and strengthen energy security.
