Caunton Engineering, a Nottingham-based steelwork specialist, has been subcontracted by Siemens Energy to manufacture and supply the structural steelwork for NeuConnect’s UK converter station on the Isle of Grain. Caunton is fabricating and delivering over 2,000 tonnes of steel in more than 8,000 sections for the converter halls and associated buildings, which are then assembled on site. This package includes key elements of the 24-metre-high converter hall structure, contributing to the main superstructure of the NeuConnect onshore HVDC converter station.
