Description
VolkerInfra was awarded an onshore high-voltage cable installation contract by Prysmian PowerLink for the Neart na Gaoithe grid connection. The scope included enabling works along the cable route corridor and installation works for 2 x 220 kV onshore export circuits along the 12.3 km route from landfall at Thorntonloch to the Crystal Rig onshore substation. Activities included excavation, duct installation, backfill and reinstatement of cable trenches, pulling the 220 kV underground cable into pre-installed ducting, construction of cable jointing bays, delivery and commissioning of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) works at required crossings, provision of steel support structures for termination works, and jointing and testing support (including AC resonance testing).
