The first phase was for the pull-in of a 220kV HVAC export cable to each of two offshore substation platforms, including securing the subsea cable at the hang-off, routing HV cores to the switchgear, fibre optic splicing, and HV & OTDR testing.
Correll Group acted as a specialist subcontractor to Prysmian Powerlink for the installation and termination of the Neart na Gaoithe 220 kV HVAC export cables at the two offshore substations, which will become part of the Neart na Gaoithe OFTO transmission assets. Under a multi‑phase contract, Correll completed pull‑in of one 220 kV export cable to each offshore substation platform and carried out internal platform works on the south platform. This included securing the subsea cables at the hang‑offs, stripping and routing the high‑voltage cores to the switchgear, cleating, and installing and splicing associated fibre‑optic cables. Correll also performed high‑voltage and OTDR testing on each export cable. A second phase, scheduled for 2023, was to complete the internal platform works on the north offshore substation.
