Local contractor support on installation and coastal transition works for the two parallel 53 km Moyle Interconnector metallic return cables between Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Morrows (NI) supported Nexans on the Moyle Return Cables Project, which added new low‑voltage metallic return conductors to the Moyle Interconnector to replace failed integrated return elements. Working as a local contractor in Northern Ireland, Morrows assisted with the construction and installation phase of the project, including works associated with bringing the new subsea return cables ashore and integrating them at the transition joint locations on the Ballycronan More side. Their role formed part of the overall campaign that reinstated the interconnector’s full 500 MW transfer capacity in 2016.
