In 2003, HOFOR (then Copenhagen Energy) sold its ten turbines in the 40 MW Middelgrunden offshore wind farm—representing half of the project—to Energie E2, which later became part of Ørsted, transferring a 50% ownership stake in the wind farm from the municipal utility to the energy company.
