Offshore site preparation at the Middelgrunden shoal began in 2000 with removal of the top layer of the seabed and other seabed works described in the project timetable as taking place from May to June 2000. These activities prepared the former dumpsite area for installation of the gravity foundations and cables, and later reports note that delays in seabed preparation extended construction several months into the winter season.
