In December 2012, ABB was awarded by Subsea 7 the contract to supply the subsea power-from-shore cable system for the Martin Linge platform, providing a 162–163 km, 145 kV three-core AC subsea cable with polymeric insulation and 55 MW capacity to power the production platform and associated FSO from the Norwegian mainland grid. This contract established ABB as the main cable manufacturer within the wider SURF and power-from-shore scope for the field.
