The Malta–Comino–Gozo submarine cable system, including the Comino onshore electric substation acting as the main connection point between Malta and Gozo, was commissioned in 1958 after two submarine cables were laid in 1957 between Marfa and Comino and between Comino and Gozo. This commissioning brought Comino’s electric substation into full effect and enabled Gozo to be supplied with electricity from the Malta power station, improving service and connectivity across the islands.
