In 2016 Enemalta completed an upgrade of the Mellieħa Distribution Centre, the main network node supplying electricity towards the Vendôme Distribution Centre and the Malta–Gozo submarine cable links, replacing 1973 transformers and switchgear to double its capacity and improve redundancy for Gozo’s supply.
