The Lillgrund export transmission system, comprising the 130 kV offshore and onshore cables and associated substations connecting the Lillgrund offshore wind power plant to E.ON’s 130 kV Bunkeflo substation near Malmö, reached full commercial operation in December 2007. From this date the project, owned and operated by Vattenfall Vindkraft AB, has been in successful operation and delivering electricity equivalent to the annual demand of around 60,000 households via the export connection.
