LanWin3 (NOR-11-1) 2,000 MW, 525 kV HVDC bipole export cable system from German North Sea wind area N-11.1 to the Heide hub via landfall near Büsum; approx. 196 km subsea and 15 km onshore, two parallel power cables.
50Hertz awarded Prysmian PowerLink s.r.l a long-term EPCI contract package (Lot 2) covering the NOR-11-1 offshore grid connection LanWin3 and the onshore HVDC link DC31. For LanWin3, Prysmian is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of ±525 kV HVDC cable systems comprising submarine export cables from the offshore wind area N-11.1 in the German North Sea to landfall near Büsum, and underground cables from landfall to the multi-terminal hub in the Heide area. The contract, valued at about €1.1 billion for NOR-11-1 plus DC31, includes production of the subsea power cables at Prysmian’s factories in Pikkala (Finland) and Arco Felice (Italy), with associated fibre-optic cables from Nordenham (Germany) and land cables manufactured in France. Engineering, manufacturing and installation are scheduled to start around 2025, with commissioning in the mid‑2030s.
