On 11 February 2008, Terna S.p.A. submitted a request for Environmental Impact Assessment (VIA) of the complete rationalisation project, which includes the 132 kV cable link between Sacca Serenella and Cavallino, to the Italian Ministry of the Environment (MATTM). This filing initiated the national environmental review process for the project works in the Venice area, including the Laguna Veneta: Sacca Serenella - Cavallino section.
