The Italian Ministry of the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea issued a positive environmental compatibility opinion for the cable links including the 132 kV 'Cavallino - Sacca Serenella' connection in the Venice Lagoon. This EIA approval, dated 7 December 2009, confirmed the environmental acceptability of constructing and operating the authorised submarine and underground HVAC cables.
