On 21 February 2019, Terna put the underground and submarine 132 kV cable between the Sacca Serenella and Cavallino primary substations into operation, confirming the link’s full entry into service within the Venetian Lagoon grid. This commissioning, together with related works, enabled the start of demolition of sections of the existing overhead line and contributed to improving the efficiency and security of the lagoon’s electricity network.
