On 20 March, Terna opened the construction site in the municipality of Cavallino Treporti to begin laying the new 132 kV underground cable link “Sacca Serenella – Cavallino Treporti”, a roughly 14 km connection (including a long submarine section) between the Sacca Serenella and Cavallino primary substations, using trench excavation and horizontal directional drilling on land and specialised cable-burial machinery offshore as part of a €34 million project to modernise the Venice lagoon electricity network and improve security of supply.
