Cable installation for the 132 kV underground/underwater connection between the Sacca Serenella and Cavallino primary substations in the Venice lagoon was completed, with Nautilus Srl laying three single-core HVAC power cables plus a fibre-optic cable in a bundled trench over the Sacca Serenella–Cavallino stretch (about 10.5 km) as part of a total 15.7 km route for Terna and Prysmian. The works, carried out in very shallow and environmentally sensitive lagoon waters using a Green Trenching burial machine, resulted in the full installation of the new cable link, which Terna later reports as part of the completed "Venetian lagoon cables" project and as already in service.
