Description
NCC was entrusted by Svenska Kraftnät with a turnkey assignment to replace part of the electrode cable system serving the Konti-Skan 1 and 2 HVDC links between Sweden and Denmark. The scope covered delivery logistics and the installation of approximately 4 km of subsea cable and 5 km of land cable between Torred and Risö in Halland, Sweden. NCC planned logistics, executed excavation and controlled drilling in sensitive coastal areas, installed the land cable in protective, bentonite-filled pipes for thermal performance, and laid and buried the subsea section to ensure mechanical protection. The new electrode cable and associated protection system enhance security of supply for the Konti-Skan interconnector.
