Turnkey replacement of a faulty electrode cable forming part of the Konti-Skan 1 and 2 DC links, involving delivery and installation of 4 km subsea and 5 km land cable between Torred and Risö in Halland, Sweden, plus a new protection system.
Svenska Kraftnät awarded NCC a turnkey contract to replace a faulty electrode cable that forms part of the Konti-Skan 1 and 2 DC links between Lindome in Sweden and Jutland in Denmark. NCC’s scope includes delivery of the new cable, logistics planning, and installation of approximately 4 km of subsea cable and 5 km of land cable between Torred and Risö in Halland, Sweden. The project also adds a new protection system to disconnect the cable in the event of a fault. Installation involves excavation in environmentally sensitive coastal areas using controlled drilling, placing the land sections in protective pipes filled with bentonite for thermal performance, and lowering and burying the subsea section. The work replaces an electrode cable that had suffered multiple faults, improving long‑term reliability of the Konti-Skan interconnector, including Pole 1.
