Kontek 2 — listed as a TYNDP 2016 candidate in ENTSO-E's Baltic Sea Regional Investment Plan (2015) for a 600 MW HVDC subsea interconnector between Denmark-East (DK2) and Germany, with promoters Energinet and 50Hertz — has not been included in any subsequent TYNDP cycle (2018, 2020, 2022, 2024) and has not surfaced in any 50Hertz or Energinet project material under that name in the decade since. The DKE-DE corridor between the same two TSOs is being delivered instead as Bornholm Energy Island (BEI), a hybrid offshore interconnector linking the Danish Bornholm energy island to Germany. BEI received a €645.2 million CEF Energy grant from the European Commission's CINEA on 4 September 2025 and is in active tender and consultation phases. With the underlying corridor demonstrably advancing under BEI rather than as a standalone Kontek-2 link, Kontek 2 is treated as cancelled.
