In November 2011, following extensive community consultation and an Environmental Impact Assessment, Vattenfall began applying for a Development Consent Order (DCO) under the UK Planning Act 2008 for the offshore elements of the Kentish Flats Extension, with the application and its Environmental Statement accepted for examination by the Infrastructure Planning Commission.
