On 31 August 2020, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (Miljøstyrelsen) issued a screening decision for the KBH02 132 kV cable renovation project under Section 21 of the Danish Environmental Assessment Act (Miljøvurderingsloven), concluding that the project does not require preparation of a full environmental impact assessment report. The screening assessed the planned replacement of the existing 132 kV subsea cable between Svanemølle Koblingsstation and Amagerværket in Copenhagen Harbour with a new approximately 10 km 145 kV XLPE-insulated submarine cable system, including associated onshore cable sections and civil works. The decision, published digitally on the agency website with information about public access and appeal procedures, constitutes the key environmental consent required for the project to proceed under Danish law. The screening took into account the project application submitted by Energinet Eltransmission A/S and supporting documentation including the project and installation description (Bilag 2). This environmental screening decision, combined with Energinet's status as the Danish TSO with statutory authority to reinforce the transmission grid, effectively represents the planning consent for the KBH02 København02 domestic reinforcement project.
