In 2024, RWE and ARC Marine initiated an environmental monitoring programme at the operational Kårehamn offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea by installing 180 reef cubes as artificial reef structures and studying how marine life colonises them. The biodiversity research on the reef cubes at Kårehamn has been ongoing since installation and was still running up to at least early 2026, providing survey data on ecological effects of nature-inclusive design around the turbines.
