Aibel subcontracted Veidekke Entreprenør for civil works at the onshore power‑from‑shore facility near Kårstø that supplies electricity to the Johan Sverdrup field. Veidekke’s scope included construction of site infrastructure and ground works for approximately four kilometres of cable trenches for the onshore electricity cables linking the Kårstø terminal to the Haugsneset converter station. The company also undertook civil works for a rectifier station, a pumphouse, the landfall for a cooling plant, and ground works for a second identical rectifier station, supporting installation of the HVDC conversion equipment. The NOK 150 million contract covered construction‑phase activities, with work starting in 2015 and scheduled for completion in autumn 2017, providing the onshore civil and trenching works needed to install and protect the power‑from‑shore onshore cable connection and converter infrastructure.
