Equinor confirmed that ABB in Norway had been awarded the first major contract to deliver the high‑voltage direct current transformer equipment for the Johan Sverdrup power‑from‑shore system at the riser platform and at Haugsneset. This HVDC infrastructure underpins the Utsira High area solution, which is designed to supply land-based power not only to Johan Sverdrup but also, by 2022, to other fields on the Utsira High including Ivar Aasen, thereby enabling the Ivar Aasen electrification interconnector project.
