Toshiba Corporation, through its Italian unit, won an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Italy’s transmission operator Terna for part of the undersea Italy–Montenegro HVDC interconnector. The contract included HVDC power conversion scope for the link, covering engineering and construction activities associated with the onshore HVDC converter stations. Toshiba said construction was due to start in September 2013, with equipment delivery planned for April 2015, and conversion stations expected to be on stream in September 2017.
