IJmuiden Ver Beta 2 GW, 525 kV HVDC bipole export cable system between the IJmuiden Ver Beta offshore converter platform and the Maasvlakte 380 kV substation, with a total route length of about 155 km (146 km subsea and 9 km onshore), implemented as two parallel power cables.
Danish cable manufacturer NKT was awarded a major contract by transmission system operator TenneT to deliver the HVDC export cable systems for the IJmuiden Ver Beta, IJmuiden Ver Gamma and Nederwiek 2 grid connections. For IJmuiden Ver Beta, NKT will design, engineer, manufacture, deliver, install and commission 525 kV XLPE high-voltage direct-current submarine and land cables linking the offshore converter platform in the IJmuiden Ver wind zone to the onshore grid connection at Maasvlakte near Rotterdam. The scope covers both offshore and onshore sections, including project management and all jointing works. Based on the 2 GW bipole configuration with two parallel cables and a total route length of about 155 km (146 km subsea and 9 km onshore), NKT is expected to supply approximately 292 km of subsea export cable and 18 km of onshore export cable for the IJmuiden Ver Beta connection.
