ABB was awarded the contract to supply the two HVDC VSC converter stations (HVDC Light®) for the IFA2 interconnector, providing the converter technology, control/protection (MACH) systems and associated equipment for the UK and French converter sites. The contract enabled conversion between AC and DC for the ±320 kV, 1,000 MW link and incorporated advanced control and protection features to support reliable cross‑channel power transfers.
