Offshore construction activity for the IFA2 subsea route began with the start of the cable-laying campaign across the English Channel. National Grid IFA2 and RTE contracted Prysmian to install the HVDC submarine cable; vessel operations and seabed works commenced in March 2019, marking the start of major offshore works (route clearance, cable laying and initial post-lay surveys) along the circa 200 km subsea corridor between Lee-on-Solent (UK) and Merville‑Franceville‑Plage (France).
