Wood was responsible for enabling integration of Hywind Tampen’s floating wind park with the Snorre and Gullfaks offshore installations and the onshore control room in Bergen. Wood’s scope included engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation for topsides modifications, primarily on the Gullfaks A and Snorre A platforms, and upgrades to the platforms’ power management systems to safely and predictably operate a hybrid wind-and-gas power system while maximising wind power utilisation. Wood also delivered the design of the employer SCADA system and telecommunication system for the wind turbines and procured and supplied equipment for installation on the turbines, integrating the wind farm with the platforms and the onshore control room.
