Design, procurement and fabrication of 66 kV dynamic inter-array cables between the 11 Hywind Tampen turbines and static export cables (approx. 12.9 km to Snorre A and 16 km to Gullfaks A), manufactured at Hartlepool for Equinor.
Equinor awarded JDR Cable Systems the cable supply contract for Hywind Tampen, covering the design, procurement and fabrication of all subsea power cables. JDR engineered and manufactured the 66 kV dynamic inter-array cables linking the 11 floating Siemens Gamesa turbines in a loop, as well as two static export cables connecting the wind farm to the Snorre A and Gullfaks A platforms. The cables were produced at JDR’s Hartlepool facility in the UK and delivered as part of the NOK 3.3 billion package of key contracts awarded in October 2019. JDR’s scope included terminations and pull-in heads to support offshore installation by Subsea 7/Seaway 7 and later Ocean Installer, providing the complete subsea transmission network that enables Hywind Tampen to supply power to the Gullfaks and Snorre oil and gas fields.
