In June 2023, Denmark’s and Norway’s energy ministers concluded a political agreement to examine the potential for common North Sea infrastructure solutions for integrating offshore wind power into the energy systems of Denmark, Norway and other northern European countries. This intergovernmental accord provides the policy framework that Energinet and Statnett are now building on with their joint feasibility work on a possible new hybrid interconnector between Denmark and Norway via a Danish North Sea energy island and Norway’s Sørvest F area.
