On 22 January 2024, Hrvatski operator prijenosnog sustava (HOPS) commenced works to replace the 110 kV submarine cables between Brač–Hvar and Hvar–Korčula, including associated onshore cable sections and the revitalisation of cable houses. The construction campaign, running until mid-June 2024, replaces ageing oil-insulated cables with more environmentally friendly technology to improve long-term security of electricity supply and support renewable energy integration for the islands, including Korčula.
