On 1 March 2022, HOPS announced that a €58 million project to rehabilitate 110 kV submarine cables connecting several Croatian islands had been launched, with a second phase to replace existing submarine cable links to the islands of Brač, Hvar, Korčula, Krk, Cres and Lošinj, thereby formally initiating the programme that includes the new Hvar–Korčula cable section.
