On 22 January 2024, Croatian transmission system operator HOPS commenced works to replace the existing 110 kV submarine cable between the islands of Hvar and Korčula, as part of a project also covering the Brač–Hvar link. The activities include laying and jointing new environmentally friendlier 110 kV submarine cables, replacing the old oil‑insulated cables, and associated works on land sections and cable houses, with the installation campaign planned to continue until mid‑June 2024 to enhance security of electricity supply and support renewable integration on the islands.
