In August 2016, Danish Defence minehunters conducted unexploded ordnance clearance in the Horns Rev 3 offshore area, detonating three naval mines that had been discovered during the previous year’s geophysical seabed survey. Using a remote-controlled unmanned mini-submarine, they neutralised the UXO to make the area safe for subsequent offshore construction, including installation of the Horns Rev 3 export cable and related transmission infrastructure.
