By 30 November 2015, ABB had completed installation of the high-voltage AC subsea power cable system linking the Norwegian grid to Eni Norge’s Goliat FPSO in the Barents Sea, as part of a turnkey scope covering design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning. The 105.5-kilometer system, comprising a long static seabed section and a 1.5-kilometer dynamic section, is described as the longest of its kind and is designed to supply around half of the platform’s electricity needs from shore.
