On 11 July 2010, the onshore power-from-shore facilities at Statoil’s Mongstad complex, including the 90 kV AC export connection and associated substation equipment, were commissioned and began supplying up to 40 MW of electricity via a 98.5 km static and 1.5 km dynamic submarine cable to the Gjøa floating platform in the North Sea, marking the start of operational power-from-shore for the field.
