Description
NKT Cables was contracted by project developer Typhoon Offshore B.V. under a Preparatory Works Agreement to manufacture and supply the export cables for the Gemini offshore wind farm. Under this agreement, NKT Cables produced around 200 kilometres of 220 kV high-voltage AC submarine power cable, forming the two parallel export circuits that transmit power from the Gemini offshore substations in the Dutch North Sea to the onshore grid connection at Eemshaven. Production started in early 2014 at NKT’s facilities in Cologne and Rotterdam, with delivery of the cables scheduled for early 2015 to align with the wind farm’s construction and grid connection programme.
