GE Grid Solutions was contracted, alongside Petrofac, to engineer and deliver the electrical system for grid connection of the Galloper offshore wind farm. GE’s scope included overall electrical system design; onshore and offshore substation equipment including power transformers and 132 kV/33 kV gas-insulated switchgear; two static var compensators for dynamic voltage support and grid code compliance; protection and control systems; telecommunications between the onshore and offshore substations; and ancillary electrical equipment (auxiliary/earthing transformers, batteries, backup generators and LV systems).
