GE Grid Solutions is the grid-focused business within GE Vernova’s Electrification segment, headquartered in Boulogne-Billancourt, Île-de-France, France and rooted in the former Alstom Grid operations. It serves power utilities and industrial customers worldwide with more than 12,000 employees across roughly 70–80 countries, helping manage electricity from generation to end consumption and underpinning transmission and distribution networks.
The business is structured around a broad portfolio spanning systems, equipment, automation and services. On the systems side it delivers high‑voltage direct current (HVDC) links, flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS), AC substation solutions, turnkey substation projects, and microgrid and distributed energy resource management systems. Its equipment range includes power transformers, gas‑ and air‑insulated switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers, capacitors, reactors, bushings and surge arresters, alongside SF₆‑free switchgear based on its g³ technology. In automation, Grid Solutions provides protection, control and metering relays, monitoring and diagnostics, critical infrastructure communications, and the GridBeats software‑defined automation platform for digital grid control.
GE Grid Solutions supports the energy transition by enabling safe, reliable connection of renewable and distributed resources, providing SF₆‑free and other decarbonization technologies under its GRiDEA portfolio, and partnering on dynamic system rating and cybersecurity with firms such as LineVision and Dragos. It plays a key role in offshore wind and large interconnection projects, supplying HVDC systems and substations for developments including North Sea converter platforms, UK subsea links, and grid connections like Norfolk Boreas and Baltica, as well as shunt reactors and substations for transmission operators in Europe, India and Latin America.
