Schleswig-Holstein Netz (SH Netz) installed two new 20 kV subsea cables between the mainland at Emmelsbüll-Horsbüll and the island of Föhr, replacing ageing cables from the 1950s and 1960s. The works included transporting the cables to Dagebüll, transferring them onto the cable-lay spread, pulling the cables into pre-installed ducts/leerrohre, and ploughing/burying the first sections into the Wadden Sea seabed to around 1.5 m depth using a vibration plough vehicle (Nessie V). SH Netz also carried out precise jointing works (Muffenmontagen) to connect the subsea cables to the land cables, followed by testing and measurements ahead of commissioning.
