In Väike Väin strait between Muhu and Saaremaa islands, we laid a new 110 kV submarine cable… The total length of the Väike Väin strait cable line from Muhu island to Orissaare substation is 6.7 kilometres, 4.7 kilometres of which is the submarine cable.
Connecto Eesti AS was Merko Infra’s cooperation partner and co-chief designer for Elering’s submarine cable projects in the Suur and Väike Väin straits. For the first Väike Strait 110 kV link between Muhu and the Orissaare substation, Connecto jointly undertook the detailed design of the 110 kV cable line and its electrical systems and participated in construction and installation. The Väike Väin scope comprised a 6.7 km 110 kV line, including about 4.7 km of submarine cable and roughly 2 km of underground onshore cable, installed and buried to protect against anchors, ice and other external impacts. Connecto’s role covered engineering of the power cable system and execution of onshore and offshore cable works alongside Merko Infra for Elering.
