In Väike Väin strait between Muhu and Saaremaa islands, we laid a new 110 kV submarine cable… The total length of the Väike Väin strait cable line from Muhu island to Orissaare substation is 6.7 kilometres, 4.7 kilometres of which is the submarine cable.
AS Merko Infra acted as main contractor and co-designer for Elering’s 110 kV cable links across the Suur and Väike Väin straits. For the first Väike Strait submarine cable between Muhu island and the Orissaare substation on Saaremaa, Merko Infra, together with Connecto, designed the 110 kV XLPE cable line and carried out construction and installation works. The Väike Väin section comprised a 6.7 km 110 kV line, including approximately 4.7 km of submarine cable laid and buried in the seabed and about 2 km of underground onshore cable. Merko Infra’s scope covered the detailed design of the cable route and electrical works, landfall and onshore civil works, and management of the overall construction package on behalf of Elering.
